Files are converted inside your browser and never uploaded. The open-source libraries that do the work (Mediabunny, LAME, libheif, PDF.js, pdf-lib, qpdf, SheetJS and more) are all named on its About page.

- Changing video formats
- Video and audio the new format can hold as they are get copied over without re-encoding, so quality stays the same. For MP4 or MOV, VP9 or AV1 video becomes H.264 (or HEVC) and Opus or Vorbis audio becomes AAC, so the file plays on iPhone and Mac.Mediabunny (with the browser’s WebCodecs)
- MP3 quality
- MP3s are made with LAME 3.100 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps. From a video the default is 192 kbps, and an audio file under 150 kbps starts at 128 kbps.The LAME Project
- HEIC photos
- Safari decodes HEIC itself, and in Chrome, Edge and Firefox the page uses its own copy of libheif. The capture date and GPS location are not copied to the new file.libheif-js (libheif)
- PDF compression

- PDF passwords

- CSV for Excel

The practical limit is your device’s memory, so very large videos can fail on phones, and Word or PowerPoint to PDF and OCR aren’t available yet.
